2022 - Liz

What a nostalgic experience we had staying in the Shepherds Hut.  Memories of the Famous Five came to mind, captured in the 'Timeless' decor and accessories - matched with feather down quilt, comforter, choice of soft and firm pillows on a 'deadly' comfortable mattress that you will struggle to leave.

If you are a star gazer it's a fantastic spot also.

Rachel is very easy going, great sense of humour and I thank you for opening your home and garden for all to experience.

What a magical weekend my wife and I spent at Fernwood Glamping.

We arrived on Friday evening, where we were greeted by Rachel with a warm smile.

Rachel made us feel instantly relaxed and cared for and after settling in we were left with absolute privacy.

I would high recommend Fernwood Glamping to any of my friends or family for a picturesque stay in the heart of the New Forest.

Thank you for having us. Lovely clean and peaceful place to stay. The bed was comfy and homely. We loved it.  Thank you again.

My son and I stayed at Fernwood Glamping in their shepherds hut and it was absolutely fabulous. A lovely, peaceful setting in beautiful surroundings in the forest, with everything close should you require: local village pubs, shops, restaurants, walks and very near the old town of Ringwood. The owners Jonathan and Rachel couldn't be more welcoming and nothing is too much trouble in what you want out of it and they are on hand should you need them for any information whatsoever. The grounds are lovely, extremely well kept and it has everything you could wish for: clean washroom facilities and a lovely double shower, a summerhouse with board games and tea and coffee making facilities, a fire pit which is lovely to sit round at dusk and into the evening and the hut has a lovely double bed with clean bedding and towels and a very warm wood burner that is well ventilated should you need it, also fairy lights and lanterns etc. So thanks again Rachel and Jonathan for a lovely stay that couldn't have been more perfect.  It was lovely to meet you!

I had a wonderful two-night stay in the gypsy caravan with my 5 year old niece.  She said it was 'fantastic'.  She enjoyed playing on the rope swing and settling with games in the summerhouse when it rained.  Details such as fresh sweet peas, chocolates, bunting and fairy lights made the cosy gypsy caravan even more special.  The breakfast hamper was perfect including warm bread rolls. Thank you Rachel and Jonathan for your special hospitality in a magical place, we would love to come back again x

Sue and family, California, June 2016

Rachel, Jonathan and their three children live in a fairy tale location, and we were lucky enough to stay with them in the end of June. We are a family of four adults and we travelled from California to the UK for a three-week holiday. The magic began when we made our first stop after the airport at Stonehenge. The ancient stones were a convenient diversion on our way to the New Forest.

Everything we needed was there including tea and coffee making facility; clean, fluffy robes tied with raffia; and an assortment of crocs for walking around the property so as not to get your shoes wet, or for the middle of the night run to the toilet. The hut and caravan are amply lit with fairy lights and we had teddy bears sitting on our pillows waiting for their bedtime story ;-) And as an extra courtesy there are torches available to use for reading or going to the loo. There is a clean odour-free composting toilet with a cleverly rigged sink in a structure located quite close to the hut and caravan.

We visited the Alice Lisle because it was close and sounded appealing. We found it to be delightful, and we enjoyed a tasty, fresh meal, good local beer, and a gorgeous view as the pub sits at the edge of a lake.

We had a pot belly stove and wood for heating in the hut. In reality we didn’t need this once we got under the warm bedding! Oh, that bedding! We were all extremely co

Very welcoming hosts. We highly recommend a stay here!! PS - We found some wild ponies, and they were sweet, especially the foals!

Rachel and Jonathan were the perfect hosts. Warm and very welcoming from the moment we arrived until our departure. Rachel took the kids to feed the animals while my husband and I had a quiet cup of tea together in the lovely summerhouse. The hut is located on their beautiful land with lovely flowers and gorgeous pond. Our kids also loved the tree house. We give our first experience full marks and I think much of that is thanks to Rachel and Jonathan's hospitality. It's definitely worth a stay either in the hut or the adjacent marvelous gypsy caravan. Glamping at its finest! Hope to see you guys again.

Sophie, July 2016

We stayed in the hut (with our 2 and 4 yr old) at Fernwood as a compromise to camping in a tent given the recent weather conditions. It was a very last minute arrangement, but Rachel was very accommodating and welcomed us despite not giving her much time to prepare for our arrival. On arrival we were shown to the Shepherd's hut, which is beautifully designed with a rustic earthy feel. The wood burning stove, fairy lights and little candles make for a magical feel and the little extras (tea, coffee, fruit, marshmallows etc.) make it instantly homely and welcoming. You can really tell that so much thought has gone into the place, they really have thought of everything! (From robes to crocs, blankets to teddy bears and high quality bedding to top it off.)  There wasn't a great deal of space for a family of four but it was ver,y very comfortable - especially the bed. The kids were also warm and cosy in their thick sleeping bags.

The compost toilet was a few steps down the garden: two toilet seats with one 'resting' and the other in operation. The children were fascinated that they didn't need flushing but instead you throw a scoop of sawdust down. All very clean and quirky, lit with fairy lights and quotes from the Dalai Lama on the wall to get you thinking about how to get the best out of life!

Our wonderful breakfast was full of delicious goodies all beautifully presented in a wicker hamper. We sat and had our breakfast looking out to the pond and then after played a few of the games. Altogether a lovely place and I would recommend to anyone considering staying here.

I loved Fernwood! I’ve stayed in many unusual places in Europe (I nearly wrote a directory of them a few years ago) and this is of an exceptionally high standard.

Our stay at the Gypsy Caravan was magical! Rachel and Jonathan were warm and friendly hosts who made us feel very welcome. The caravan was clean, comfortable and fully equipped with everything we needed plus some very thoughtful extras too. It is exactly as shown in the pictures but actually more beautiful. The area is peaceful but the major attractions not too far away. We would stay here again and whole-heartedly recommend it to others.

Where do we start! Rachel and Jonathan are superb hosts; they make you feel like family, they are kind and very hospitable.

The Gypsy van we stayed in is amazing, filled with charm and the fairy lights are the finishing touch to the ambiance!  It has amazing mattresses, pillows and quilts to provide a great night’s sleep - the owls keep you company at night to add to the feeling of being in the heart of nature, away from the hustle and bustle of our busy lives! There is a lovely flush toilet and shower room near the main house and if that's busy Rachel lets you use another one in the house, again making you feel at home. Nothing is too much trouble!!!

Try the Breakfast Hamper, filled with warm bread rolls, homemade muffins (yum!) and jam, cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit and orange juice. The summerhouse with decking provides a lovely place to relax, has a running stream alongside which provides a haven of tranquility. You can also make tea/coffee, enjoy the biscuits, stoke up one of the various fire pits or stoves with chopped wood to warm the marshmallows so thoughtfully provided.
