Fernwood Glamping
A unique glamping experience in the New Forest
Fernwood Glamping is a small, family-run business with a rustic shepherd's hut and a beautifully painted gypsy caravan at Fernwood, offering you a friendly welcome and a genuine glamping adventure. With a view over fields, yet only minutes from the friendly market town of Ringwood, it offers easy access into the New Forest National Park - a perfect spot for couples or families who enjoy walking, cycling or wish to visit the local beaches or countryside.
Here you will have a chance to unwind, time to enjoy watching the buzzards making lazy circles in the sky, seeing deer in the field and hearing the many birds in the trees - from woodpeckers in the day to owls at night. It is a memorable place to stay, where you can enjoy sitting by the fire pit, looking up at the stars or snuggling up inside with the wood burner.
Spaced over 25 metres apart, the shepherd's hut and gypsy van are both perfect for two adults, but can also accommodate two young children (up to aged 10). The hut and van can be booked together for two couples or families.

We were included in Campsites.co.uk's list of 150 Outstanding Sites for 2024 celebrating those who offer their campers a really great holiday. This is what they had to say about us:
"From eco forest hideaways to family-friendly holiday parks and luxury glamping, these hand picked sites are a combined list of our award winners and other sites we rate highly for a consistently excellent experience on site!”
(We even had a articles written in The Salisbury Journal, The Lymington Times and the Bournemouth Echo).

We were really pleased to have been included in the 2023 Bradt guide for the New Forest.
This is a stand out in the glamping scene, partly because of hostess, Rachel, who embodies the Slow spirit and genuinely cares about her guests. An immacuate shepherd's hut and gypsy caravan are situated in Rachel's large back garden, surrounded by flowers and backing on to an open field. Firepits are available to cook meals.
Rachel has thought of every detail to make a visit special: from marshmallows and forks for evenings around the firepit, to ponchos to keep warm.
A shared shower and toilet are located a short walk away but each unit has its own adjacent compost toilet. The hand-painted caravan is truly special; the flowered, canvas ceiling glowing with fairy lights is a cosy sanctuary. Thanks to a wood-burning stove, the Shepherd’s Hut is open well into winter; the caravan is warm-weather only. Sleeping quarters are small; ideal for couples but you can fit two small children as well. No Wi-Fi; you can count bats instead. A true gem; highly recommended.

More than a bed and breakfast! A surprise waiting for you at every turn in the summer house! We had a wonderful time and an amazing experience in the Gypsy Caravan. The surprise of so many deer in the field behind a great view, to sitting in the summerhouse watching the abundance of birds large and small. Thank you for a wonderful, friendly break away from it all. Chill out factor 100%+
Just enjoy the experience. Bring binoculars if you have them. So much to see in the area, but great to just stay in the garden, get the fire pit going and chill. Local shops within walking distance for that bottle of wine or a few beers. Bakery devine. Didn't try the fish and chip shop but great opening times, along with Tesco. Would recommend this break to anyone.

Perfect location out in the greenery whilst still being round the corner from local shops, tucked in the back of a large garden you can sit round the fire and see nothing but green. No more than 15 minutes from plenty of good walks through nature. Rachel was a perfect host, showed us everything we needed and left us to our weekend… and watching the robot lawnmower roam the grass from the deer viewing platform with the sun coming up in the morning was exactly what the doctor ordered.

Thank you Rachel for a wonderful 2 night stay in the cosy gypsy caravan. Perfect, beautiful location to explore the local area and the breakfast hamper in the summer house was amazing. Everywhere so clean and the having the use of the summerhouse was perfect. Perfect central location to explore the New Forest with lots to see and do. I would 100% recommend and will be visiting again.

Lovely stay with our two children aged 10 and 6, in the shepherd’s hut. We saw deer most days over the fence! Location is great, with lots to see and do nearby. Rachel is a lovely host. The homemade muffins in the breakfast basket are the best I've ever tasted! Hut was very cosy and kids felt like they were having a little adventure. Star gazing by the fire pit at night was lovely. They have a very well behaved and friendly dog - our children are very wary of dogs but they thought he was lovely! We hope to be back and may try the caravan next time. Thanks for a lovely stay that we'll always remember!

We stayed in the Gypsy Caravan for two nights. The caravan was very clean and well appointed and our hosts were very attentive without being over intrusive. The main purpose of our stay was to attend the nearby fairy festival at Burley and Rachel utilised her extensive local knowledge to show us a rural route to walk thereby avoiding some of the main roads that Google maps would send you down! We were also very impressed by the little finishing touches to make our stay even more comfortable for instance robes and crocs to walk to the shower room in the morning, a torch to help move around at night and an optional breakfast hamper prepared by Rachel that was both very fresh and filling for the long walk ahead.
All in all we would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a comfortable, clean, cosy and quirky experience.
